Blog - Boatloads of Fun on Tap at 2010 Fair & Rodeo
The five days of the 2010 Southern New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo are kicking off Sept. 29th at 8 a.m. These days are packed with events ranging from an exciting rodeo to carnival rides.
Bringing agriculture awareness to the city, the 43rd annual event is almost like a big zoo where residents can get an up-close look at animals and farming activities. There will be a petting zoo, junior livestock exhibition, tractor events and the Turquoise Circuit Pro Rodeo Finals.
At the rodeo finals you can watch top cowboys from New Mexico and Arizona ride bulls, broncos and rope cows among other electrifying feats.
This year the carnival has a new ride called the Vertigo, which seats 16 people, climbs 65 to 70 feet in the air, and swings riders in a circle at speeds up to 35 miles per hour. Other rides fit the same level of excitement and several are designed for younger children.
