Blog - Why the Spaceport Matters to Las Cruces

This blog is Evelyn Bruder's take on Spaceport America, which recently held an event with Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Galactic and Governor Bill Richardson. Spaceport America is located north of Las Cruces.

The runway dedication at Spaceport America was on October 22, 2010. This was just one more step in the process of seeing the spaceport come to life. During the event WhiteKnightTwo flew over the spaceport and to the crowd's surprise, eventually landed.

Having the first commercial spaceport just up the road from Las Cruces is pretty exciting and knowing that we are nine to 18 months away from tourist trips to space is even more exciting. Here's why.
