History

In 1959, founder and president, David M. Steinborn started his career in real estate in Tucson, AZ. He worked as a REALTOR® and as manager of a small real estate office specializing in commercial real estate. In 1963 he moved to Las Cruces where he bought a 17-unit motel which he owned, operated and lived in for 5 years. During this time he continued to work in real estate from the motel lobby.

In 1968 he and Al Socolofsky formed a real estate company by merging their two companies and were in business together for 10 years. They started out as Socolofsky-Steinborn and later joined the franchise of Better Homes and Gardens which became GMAC Real Estate.

In early 2006 David formed a partnership with John L. Hummer, developer and founding CEO of Mountain View Regional Medical Center. John has over 17 years of senior hospital executive experience leading and developing hospitals across the country. It's a partnership that David was "very excited about" and which he believed would "add tremendous value to the team of REALTORS® and consumers and help grow and develop the company well into the future."

In March of 2008, John and his wife Amy assumed full ownership of the company.

They are deeply committed to building upon the strong foundation of excellence established by David Steinborn. They are enthusiastic about the future of Steinborn Inc. REALTORS®.

In May of 2010, John and Amy announced the company's decision to become an independent, non-franchised, brokerage under the name Steinborn & Associates Real Estate. The historical growth of the company, combined with its own innovative infrastructure developments, services and technological advancements has allowed the company to be on the same level as the leading independent real estate companies throughout the nation. In fact, Steinborn & Associates Real Estate was invited to become a member of the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (LeadingRE). The following speaks to the company's new name:

New name: Steinborn & Associates Real Estate

We chose to add the word ASSOCIATES in our company name so that our entire team of Associate Brokers is included in our name. Our new name speaks to two of our main themes: First: Together We Are Better and Second: You are in Business for Yourself but Not by Yourself.

The triangular symbol on top of our new name speaks to two important messages: First: It is pointing up and in a positive direction! Second: The symbol represents a roofline which is a tribute to our industry.

Color Blue: Our traditional, deep blue color continues on in our new name! This color speaks to our company's history and legacy of professionalism. The name STEINBORN is the strongest and most dominant local brand. STEINBORN is synonymous with REAL ESTATE in Southern New Mexico!

Color Green: We are proud to introduce a new color to our name - the color Green. It speaks to growth, creativity, independence and fresh new ideas. Let everyone who sees this new color know that we are setting our sites on continuously growing and strengthening our company's services with fresh and innovative ideas while preserving our rich heritage and traditions of excellence.

From its first office in the motel lobby on West Picacho to its new state of the art offices at Roadrunner Parkway and Tierra de Mesilla, Steinborn & Associates Real Estate has consistently led the Las Cruces real estate market. We are the market leaders for buyers and sellers of real estate in the Las Cruces market.
