Confidential business location assistance is a major service of MVEDA. This can include: (1) Arranging and conducting on-site land and building tours; (2) Arranging meetings with local officials or key business and industry leaders; (3) Providing confidential site analysis; and (4) Assisting as a troubleshooter on land and building issues with public entities prior to move-in.
MVEDA also functions as a liaison with local elected officials, city and county administrative departments, the New Mexico Economic Development Department, the New Mexico Department of Labor and other government agencies as needed.
Continuing Technical Assistance
MVEDA provides continuing assistance to promote the growth and success of new or existing companies. The organization also can assist with preliminary work on industrial revenue bonds through the City of Las Cruces or Dona Ana County, assist preparations for state in-plant training applications, provide introductions to representatives of venture capital organizations and a variety of other business assistance and promotion sources within the state and region.
About MVEDA
MVEDA has a 13-member board of directors. In addition to representatives from the city and county, the two other public sector partners are New Mexico State University and Dona Ana Branch Community College.
The nine private sector representatives on the MVEDA board are from: Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce; Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces; El Paso Electric; Public Service Company of New Mexico; Catalina Development Company; Santa Teresa Real Estate Development Corporation; MountainView Regional Medical Center; Las Cruces Machine, Manufacturing and Engineering; and Multi-Plastics of New Mexico.
MVEDA is partially funded by 60 private companies and individuals through annual contributions. Because of federal tax laws, MVEDA does not have members, but rather its financial supporters are designated as partners.
